Candelilla wax, also known as Candila wax, has a yellowish-glossy waxy solid, aromatic, brittle, and hard vegetable wax. It is produced from northern Mexico, southern Texas, and southern California. Extracted from the epidermis of candelilla bushes. Candelilla wax contains special resin components and has strong variability to temperature. In a molten mixture, it solidifies very slowly and does not reach its maximum hardness for a long time. Adding oleic acid or similar acid will slow down the crystallization process and increase the softness quickly. It is insoluble in water and soluble in acetone, cloroformio, turpentine and alcohol-benzene mixed solvents. The main ingredients are alkyl esters, free alcohols, hydrocarbon compounds, and free acids. They are mainly used in creams and lipsticks to improve heat resistance, and can also be used as hardeners for soft waxes, beeswax and carnauba wax Substitutes.
